چکیده

The hydrodenitrogenation (HDN) of indole has been studied over Mo2N and Mo2C with different structures. The difference in activity was modest and the structure of the catalysts exerted a more signi®cant effect than the chemical composition. More evident difference was observed in selectivity, and here the composition was the most important factor. Sonochemically prepared Mo2C was an active catalyst for HDN reaction. It formed plate-like aggregates of loosely packed Mo2C (fcc) particles. The crystallinity of sonochemically prepared Mo2C was improved during the reaction, and its behavior in HDN became similar to Mo2C (fcc) prepared by the TPR method. # 1999 Elsevier Science B.V. Carbon-hydrogen bond activation over tungsten carbide catalysts

Tungsten carbides with surface areas ranging from 4 to 39 m2/g were prepared by the temperatureprogrammed carburization of tungsten oxide and nitride powders with pure C H 4 o r a 48.9% CH4 in H 2 mixture. Oxygen uptakes on the carbides were low most likely because of the presence of graphitic carbon at the surface. Nevertheless, the carbides were active and selective for the dehydrogenation of...

Molybdenum Carbide Supported Platinum Catalysts for Water-Gas Shift: A Theoretical and Experimental Investigation

Introduction Early transition metals carbides are catalytically active in a variety of reactions, such as isomerization reactions, hydrogenation reactions, water-gas shift (WGS), hydrocarbon steam reforming, etc. [1]. Our group recently developed a method to load metal catalysts onto high surface area carbide and nitride supports, and demonstrated that Pt supported on Mo carbide (Mo2C) possesse...

Synthetic advancements and catalytic applications of nickel nitride

Transition metal carbides and nitrides have received a large amount of attention in chemistry and materials science due to their interesting properties and potential to substitute precious metal catalysts. Earthabundant early transition metal carbides and nitrides were the primary focus of many efforts, while late transition metal alternatives are less explored. This brief review discusses rece...

The study examined corrosion inhibition of corrosion inhibition of 5-methyl-2H-imidazol-4-carboxaldehyde and 1H-Indole-3-carboxaldehyde on mild steel in acidic medium using weight loss and Density Functional Theory (DFT) methods. DFT calculations were carried out at B3LYP/6-31+G** level of theory in aqueous medium on the molecular structures to describe electronic parameters. The values of ther...

The role of carburization temperature on the molybdenum carbide surface and their catalytic activity

The surfaces of molybdenum carbide were varied by changing the carburization temperature between 823 and 1123 K. The surfaces of the catalytic material were investigated using in-situ temperature program carburization followed by temperature program reduction and oxidation. In-situ temperature program oxidation (TPO) showed the surfaces of the catalysts contain a similar amoun...
